Sports License Agreement with Alamo City Rugby Football Club, Inc.
SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes the execution of a Sports License Agreement with Alamo City Rugby Football Club, Inc. for use and maintenance of sports fields located at Brooks Park located in Council District 3 for a five (5) year term beginning May 1, 2017, and ending April 30, 2022; no City funds are associated with this action.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Alamo City Rugby Football Club, Inc. has utilized designated sports fields at Brooks Park for nearly 30 years to provide organized amateur sports activities year round. The current agreement is expiring and the new Sports License Agreement will commence on May 1, 2017, and expire on April 30, 2022. This agreement will allow for the continued use and regular maintenance of the sports fields at Brooks Park as well as the construction of improvements at League's sole expense, in lieu of rent. In addition, the League will be permitted to operate concessions with proceeds benefitting their program.
ISSUE:
This ordinance authorizes a Sports License Agreement with Alamo City Rugby Football Club, Inc. for use and maintenance of sports fields located at Brooks Park for a five (5) year term beginning May 1, 2017, and ending April 30, 2022. This action is consistent with City policy to facilitate the use of parks for athletic and recreational activities by the citizens of San Antonio.
ALTERNATIVES:
This Sports License Agreement will allow use of the sports fields in return for maintenance of the fields, thus continuing the existing support and operations.
