SUBJECT:

Board action to approve a Professional Services Agreement with HighScope Educational Research Foundation for professional development services and support materials for teachers in an amount not to exceed $350,000 over three years.

SUMMARY:

This item requests Board consideration authorizing the execution of a Professional Services Agreement with HighScope Educational Research Foundation in an amount not to exceed $350,000. The term of this contract is for a period of three years.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Pre-K 4 SA is adopting the HighScope approach as its instructional framework for guiding high-quality instruction in the classroom and professional learning for all teaching staff.


ISSUE:

Pre-K 4 SA staff requests Board consideration to authorize the execution of a Professional Services Agreement with HighScope Educational Research Foundation in an amount not to exceed $350,000. The term of this contract is for a period of three years to begin the upcoming 2017-18 school year. The primary purpose of this Agreement is to contract professional services with HighScope. The Agreement provides professional development, training and teacher materials.

The Small Business Economic Development Advocacy (SBEDA) Ordinance requirements were waived due to the lack of small, minority, and/or women businesses available to provide these goods and services.

ALTERNATIVES:

If the Board does not approve the execution of the Agreement, Pre-K 4 SA will not be able to adopt this high-quality instructional framework and will need to consider other options.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds for this agreement are available in the FY 2018 Operating Budget contingent upon approval by the Board of Directors. Subsequent year funding is contingent on the approval of each annual budget by the Board of Directors.
