SUBJECT:
Canvassing of the May 6, 2017 General and Bond Elections
SUMMARY:
A. Consideration and approval of an Ordinance Canvassing the Official Results of the General Election held on Saturday, May 6, 2017; and establishing polling locations for the Run-Off Election scheduled for Saturday, June 10, 2017.
B. Consideration and approval of an Ordinance Canvassing the Returns and Declaring the Results of a Bond Election and Other Matters in Connection therewith.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On Saturday, May 6, 2017, the City of San Antonio scheduled the City’s General Election for the positions of Mayor and all City Council. The Bond Election allowed for Voters to vote on 6 Propositions totaling $850 million. Said Elections were ordered on February 9, 2017.
The Drawing for Placement on the Saturday, June 10, 2017 Run-Off Election Ballot will be conducted at 3:30 pm on Monday, May 15, 2017 in Council Chambers. The Canvass of the Run-Off Election will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 11:30 am in Council Chambers.
ISSUE:
The City Council as the Canvassing Authority will canvass the Unofficial Election Results for the Saturday, May 6, 2017 General and Bond Election.
ALTERNATIVES:
None.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact is associated with Canvassing of the Election Results.
The total cost of the General and Run-off Elections will be known after the Run-off Election.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Ordinance.
