Contract Award: (Job-Order Contract) Fire Station #11 Roof Replacement
SUMMARY:
An Ordinance authorizing a Job Order Contract with Jamail & Smith Construction, LP. in an amount not to exceed $122,999.20, for roof replacement on Fire Station #11, located in Council District 5, funded by the Fire Department General Fund FY 2017 Budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Project Background
Fire Station #11 sustained roof damage as a result of the storm events that took place February 19, 2017. Temporary repairs were completed February 22, 2017, to secure the damaged portions of the roof. This project will replace the entire roof for Fire Station #11 and is scheduled to begin July 2017 and is scheduled to be completed in October 2017.
Procurement of Services
This Project was selected to utilize Job Order Contracting (JOC), an alternative Project delivery method, through which ten contractors were approved through Ordinance 2015-01-15-0013 by City Council on January 15, 2015. The use of the JOC delivery method has provided the City with on-call construction, renovation and maintenance services for City buildings and facilities. Assignment of JOC contractor to a specific job is based on the contractor's current workload, overall capacity, and familiarity with a specific facility, cost, and expertise in completing specific task and/or managing a specific trade needed to carry out the job. Of the ten contractors, Jamail & Smith Construction, LP was selected to submit an estimate and project schedule for this Project.
Jamail & Smith is a small, minority-owned business that has committed to 23% Minority/Women Business Enterprise and 3% African-American Business subcontractor participation.
