SUBJECT:
Canvassing of the June 10, 2017 Run-Off Election for Council Districts 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, 10, and Mayor.
SUMMARY:
Adoption of Ordinance Canvassing the Official Results of the Run-Off Election held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 for the positions of Council Districts 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, 10, and Mayor.
Upon adoption of the Ordinance declaring the Official Results for said Places; Elected Officials will be administered/presented with the following:
• Certificates of Elections (Presented by the Mayor)
• Statements of Elected Officer (Administered by the City Clerk)
• Oaths of Office (Administered by the City Clerk)
• Drawing for 2017-2019 Mayor Pro Tem terms (conducted by the City Clerk)
A Certified Copy of Ordinance adopting the Mayoral Election Results will be provided to the Judicial Council to satisfy requirements set by the Government Code.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On Saturday, June 10, 2017, the City of San Antonio scheduled the City’s Run-Off Election for the positions of Council Districts 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, 10 and Mayor. Said Election was ordered on February 9, 2017.
ISSUE:
The City Council as the Canvassing Authority, will canvass the Official Election Results for the Saturday, June 10, 2017 Run-Off Election.
ALTERNATIVES:
None.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact is associated with Canvassing of the Run-Off Election Results.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends adoption of the Ordinance.
