Disposition:  Sale of City owned property located in the Southwest Business & Technology Park

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

Consideration of a resolution supporting the sale of an 8.63 acre vacant tract of City-owned property known as 851 South Acme Road, within the Southwest Business and Technology Park, bounded by State Highway 151 to the west, Acme Road to the east and Wintergarden Drive to the south out of New City Block 13940, in City Council District 6

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

 

GFB Services (Petitioner) is a carrier truck company located in District 6, West San Antonio.  Petitioner employs 21 truck drivers as owner operators or company drivers and provides warehouse and cross-dock services to companies such as FedEx, UPS, and Amazon.  Petitioner currently owns and operates their business at 915 South Acme Road in a 16,000 square foot warehouse and intends to move and expand their business at 851 South Acme Road.

 

Property had previously been declared surplus in Resolution 12-09-16 to a different petitioner and due to unforeseen circumstances, the property was not sold and remained in the City’s inventory of vacant property.

 

 

ISSUE:

 

This resolution will recommend the declaration as surplus and the sale of an 8.67 acre tract of unimproved city owned property known as 851 South Acme Road, Council District 6 to GFB Services.

 

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

Planning Commission could choose not to recommend this sale; however, this will disallow the Petitioner from developing the property, expanding his business, and bringing jobs to West San Antonio.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

Staff recommends the approval of this request to declare as surplus and sell the 8.67 acre tract of unimproved property go GFB Services.  Joint Base San Antonio has reviewed and approved the proposed sale of this property on June 1, 2017.
