Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Panels for Salado Creek Boardwalk
SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes a contract with Asset Integrity Management Solutions, LLC to provide 1,100 Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer panels for the Parks & Recreation Department for a total cost of $134,750.00. The panels will be utilized on the Salado Creek Boardwalk. Funding is available from the Renovation of Creekway Improvements Project.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the attached tabulation of two competitive bids received to provide 1,100 fiberglass reinforced polymer (FRP) panels for the Parks and Recreation Department for a total cost of $134,750.00. The panels will be utilized at the Salado Creek Boardwalk.
These 1,100 FRP panels consist of a gritted top finish anti-skid material and will be installed at the Salado Creek Boardwalk by the Parks & Recreation Department staff. The Salado Creek Boardwalk is located within the 100-year floodplain and becomes covered with slow-moving water approximately four times per year. The installation of the FRP panels on the Salado Creek Boardwalk will help deter any slipping over the boardwalk that could result in injury.
The Salado Creek Boardwalk is part of the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails system located along Salado Creek between Wetmore Road and Nacogdoches Road just west of Lady Bird Johnson Park. The Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails system consists of multi-use hike and bike trails, trailheads, signage and associated amenities for use by San Antonio residents and visitors.
ISSUE:
