Acceptance of Land Donations for Linear Creekways Development Program

SUMMARY:
This resolution recommends that City Council authorize staff to accept property donations totaling 21.833 acres, including 21.371 acres of land out of NCB 10677 located adjacent to the Salado Creek Greenway Trail in Council District 2 and .462 acres of land out of NCB 20 located adjacent to the San Antonio River Mission Reach in Council District 3, pursuant to the City's objectives to acquire and preserve open space along San Antonio waterways and to develop multi-use hike and bike trails, trailheads, signage and associated amenities for use by San Antonio residents and visitors. These properties are within the San Antonio city limits or extraterritorial jurisdiction, Bexar County, Texas and are located primarily in the 100 year floodplain.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The objectives of the Linear Creekway Parks Development Program are to acquire and preserve open space along San Antonio waterways and to develop multi-use hike and bike trails, trailheads, signage and associated amenities for use by San Antonio residents and visitors.

The proposed land donations provide opportunities for connections to the City's Linear Creekway Parks system that will enhance bike and pedestrian connectivity and park access for adjacent residents. These land donations are located adjacent to the Salado Creek Greenway Trail in Council District 2 and adjacent to the San Antonio River Mission Reach in Council District 3. They are within the San Antonio city limits or extraterritorial jurisdiction, Bexar County, Texas and primarily located within the 100 year floodplain. The estimated total fair market value of the land for these donations is $164,000.
