State of the city’s health

SUMMARY:

The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District will provide a presentation on the state of the city’s health

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Utilizing data obtained through the Community Health Needs Assessment, the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (Metro Health) identified key priority health issues for San Antonio and Bexar County. Dr. Colleen Bridger, Metro Health Director, will present information analyzing trends of key public health indicators; showing those in which we have made significant improvements, those that are stagnant, and those that continue to trend in the wrong direction.

Dr. Bridger will then introduce evidence-based policy solutions aimed at addressing some of these issues. At the Committee’s direction, these policy initiatives can be discussed, explored and considered further at future meetings.  Policy and environmental changes will continue to be a key strategy for reaching our long-term vision of improving community health by reducing health disparities amongst Bexar County’s most vulnerable populations.
