Authorizing of an Agreement with Jennifer Meyer Bankler, D.D.S. for Oral Health Program services



SUMMARY:

This ordinance authorizes a professional services agreement with Jennifer Meyer Bankler, D.D.S. to serve as the Dental Director for the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District's Oral Health Program in an amount up to $120,000.00 for a term beginning October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018, and further provides two, one-year renewal options.



BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On an annual basis, the Metro Health Oral Health Program provides diagnostic and preventive care to more than 22,000 children living in poverty by providing services in non-traditional settings such as Head Start, Early Head Start and on campuses of local Title I elementary schools. Through these programs, many children are identified with additional dental treatment needs beyond the scope of Metro Health services. Case management services are provided by Metro Health dental staff to ensure participating children receive needed treatment and to connect families to a source of ongoing care in the community. Additionally, oversight of dental clinic operations requires a licensed dentist per Texas law.

On May 1, 2017, a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was issued to solicit responses from qualified respondents for professional dental clinic director services. The City held a pre-submittal conference at 111 Riverview Towers on May 5, 2017 to answer questions from potential respondents. The proposal was advertised to the public in the San Antonio Express News, the City's website, TVSA (Spectrum Cable Channel 21) and 29 outreach notices were sent to existing City, current Metro Health, and locally-registered firms, notifying them of the RFQ and how to apply.
