SUBJECT: City Council Project Fund Allocation
SUMMARY:
This ordinance awards grant allocations through the City Council Project Fund to support San Antonio Hurricane Harvey Community Assistance
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The City Council Office began administering the City Council Project Fund (CCPF) in January 2012. Several improvements to the program were made at that time that included; implementation of streamlined application, better defined project eligibility, established an election year moratorium; and implemented a process for City Council approval on allocations exceeding $10,000 to an applicant for the same project or program.
This ordinance awards a grant allocation to support Hurricane Harvey assistance that was provided by the San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB) in the amount of $14,400.00.
SAFB has been assisting those communities on the Texas coast and inland with food, water and resources over the course of the last few weeks that have been affected by devastation of Hurricane Harvey. They have worked closely with the Red Cross and other agencies to assist evacuees/shelters to provide much needed meals and water. They have dispatched trucks, staff and resources to Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Rockport/Fulton, Victoria, Houston and several other coastal towns in need. Additionally, they provided assistance to sister Food Banks in Corpus Christi and Victoria, covering 11 counties each. These funds would assist in the San Antonio Food Bank's continued efforts to provide relief, food, and water to thousands of Texans affected by this unprecedented disaster.
