S17-004 Memorial Designation on a portion of Brady Blvd.

SUMMARY:

S17-004 (District 5): A resolution recommending approval to add a memorial designation of "Victoria Robles Memorial Way" to a portion of Brady Blvd. between S. Zarzamora and S. Calaveras.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On September 6, 2016, Victoria Robles and two young children lost their lives in a traffic accident after returning from a short trip to the coast. Victoria is the eldest daughter of Annette and Jimmie Robles, founders of Last Chance Ministries. Last Chance Ministries is a faith-based organization that provides resources to thousands through programs like their Summer Food Program. Annually, they also help provide school supplies and host hundreds of families during their Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. Along with her family, Victoria Robles's mission in life was to help her community. The designation of a memorial way will serve to honor the life and legacy of Victoria's lifelong commitment to those in need.

Community Meeting Date: November 6, 2017 at Last Chance Ministries
- 5 Notices mailed to property owners abutting the segment of the street proposed for the memorial designation.
- Notice was sent to the San Juan Gardens/Collins Gardens Neighborhood Association.
- No written responses were received in opposition or in favor. 17 members of the community attended the meeting. All were in favor of the designation.

Planning Commission Public Notification:

- 5 Notices mailed to property owners abutting the segment of the street proposed for the memorial designation.
- Notice was sent to the San Juan Gardens/Collins Gardens Neighborhood Association.
- No written responses were received in opposition or in favor.
