SUBJECT:

 

Resolution supporting the acquisition of real property.

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

A Resolution supporting the acquisition of 3.0 acres of real property located on Austin Highway between Perrin Beitel and Harry Wruzbach for the purpose of building a Fire Station 24 replacement.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

 

On May 6, 2017, the San Antonio public approved six propositions for the 2017-2022 Bond Program.  Proposition 5, Public Safety Facilities Improvements, included a measure to develop a new fire station to replace the existing Fire Station 24, which was built in 1959. 

 

 

ISSUE:

 

A Resolution supporting the acquisition of 3.0 acres of real property located on Austin Highway between Perrin Beitel and Harry Wruzbach for the purpose of building a Fire Station 24 replacement.

 

 

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

Planning Commission could choose not to approve the purchase; however, City would not be keeping with the intent of the voters to have a new up-to-date fire station for this area.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

Staff recommends a resolution supporting the acquisition of 3.0 acres of real property located on Austin Highway between Perrin Beitel and Harry Wruzbach for the purpose of building a Fire Station 24 replacement.
