Property Acquisition for Fire Station 54
SUMMARY:
An ordinance for Fire Station 54, authorizing the acquisition of 3.0 acres of real property in the amount not-to-exceed $180,000.00 payable to Rosillo Creek Development, Ltd. to construct a new fire station for the Foster Road Annexation Area to provide fire and medical services, located in Council District 2, funded from Certificates of Obligations included in the FY 2018 Capital Budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On August 31, 2017, City Council approved the Foster Road Annexation Area. As part of the annexation, the City of San Antonio must provide full municipal services as required and defined by the Texas Local Government Code to include fire protection. Per the annexation service requirements, the San Antonio Fire Department is required to provide fire and medical emergency services to the annexation area residents.
Upon acquisition of the 3.0 acres, Fire Station 54 will be constructed. In the meantime, the San Antonio Fire Department is providing fire protection and emergency services from Fire Station 18, located at 1463 S. WW White Road and Fire Station 30, located at 919 Gembler Road.
ISSUE:
This ordinance authorizes the acquisition of 3.0 acres of real property in the amount not-to-exceed $180,000.00 payable to Rosillo Creek Development, Ltd. to construct Fire Station 54 for the Foster Road Annexation Area to provide fire and medical services, located in Council District 2.
Until Fire Station 54 can be built, San Antonio Fire Department is providing fire protection and emergency services from Fire Station #18 located at 1463 S. WW White Road and Fire Station #30 at 919 Gembler Road.
