SUBJECT:

Purchase of three Chevrolet Tahoes for SAPD


SUMMARY:

An ordinance accepting the offer from Caldwell Country Chevrolet to provide three replacement Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicles for the San Antonio Police Department for a total cost of $103,405.00. Funding is available from the FY 2018 Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund (ERRF) Budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the offer submitted by Caldwell Country Chevrolet to provide the San Antonio Police Department with three replacement Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicles for a total cost of $103,405.00.

These patrol units are full sized Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) that are used by the K-9 Division of the San Antonio Police Department. The functionality of these vehicles requires a larger layout for equipment than what is provided in the standard issue Ford Explorer Interceptor Police Pursuit Vehicles. Through extensive testing and evaluation by the San Antonio Police Department and San Antonio Police Officers' Association (SAPOA), the Labor Relations Committee (LRC) unanimously chose the Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle.


ISSUE:

This contract will provide a total of three replacement Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicles for the K-9 Division of the Police Department.

These units will be purchased from Caldwell Country Chevrolet utilizing the Texas BuyBoard contract #521-16 and will be made in accordance with the Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative passed on Ordinance No. 97097 dated January 30, 2003.

These vehicles will have a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty.

The Small Business Economic Development Advocacy (SBEDA) Ordinance requirements were waived due to the lack of small, minority, and/or women businesses available to provide these goods and services.
