Declaring as surplus, authorizing the sale of a 0.036 of an acre unimproved tract of property located in Alamo Heights.


SUMMARY:

A resolution recommending declaring a 0.036 of an acre (1,568 square feet) tract of unimproved land located in CB 4024, Block 115, Lots 14, 15 and 16 (111 Viesca, Alamo Heights, Texas) as surplus and authorizing its sale to William H. and Jennifer B. Wood.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Under Municipal Code, all city property must be declared as surplus prior to the disposition of the property. The request to declare property as surplus must be submitted to the Department of Transportation & Capital Improvements, Real Estate Division, then the request and exhibits are sent to departments and municipal utilities that provide services to, or construct infrastructure on the properties. The departments and municipal utilities respond if there is a need for the property or if the property can be disposed of.

The City of San Antonio acquired property located in County Block 4024, Block 115, Lots 14, 15 and 16, in Alamo Heights in 1924 for drainage purposes. In 1945, the City of San Antonio sold the property above the 728' contour line only. The City of San Antonio retained the property below the 728' contour line for drainage.

William and Jennifer Wood purchased the property located at 111 Viesca (County Block 4024, Block 115, Lots 14, 15 and 16. The City of San Antonio owns a 0.036 of an acre unimproved portion of the lots located below the 728' contour line.

The Woods requested the City of San Antonio sell the 0.036 of an acre portion of County Block 4024, Block 115, Lots 14, 15 and 16 since the property was originally part of the lots that they purchased, and the property would even out the lot line, so their property abuts Viesca Street right-of-way.
