Contract Award: (Job-Order Contract) Police Training Academy Pedestrian Lights Replacement and Patio Paver Repair Project


SUMMARY:

This ordinance authorizes task orders to a Job Order Contract with Con-Cor Inc. for the Police Training Academy Pedestrian Lights Replacement and Patio Paver Repair Project, located in Council District 3, in an amount not to exceed $144,807.31 for pedestrian lights replacement and in an amount not to exceed $38,247.02 for patio paver repairs for a total cost of $183,054.33 funded through the FY 2018 Deferred Maintenance Program.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background
This contract provides for the replacement of thirty eight (38) pedestrian light fixtures and light poles with LED lighting and includes the removal of the existing light poles at the Police Training Academy. Project scope also includes the repair of patio pavers and the irrigation system in the memorial area of the facility. This project is scheduled to begin June 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2018.

Procurement of Services
This Project was selected to utilize Job Order Contracting (JOC), an alternative Project delivery method, through which ten contractors were approved through Ordinance 2015-01-15-0013 by City Council on January 15, 2015. The use of the JOC delivery method has provided the City with on-call construction, renovation and maintenance services for City buildings and facilities. Assignment of JOC contractor to a specific job is based on the contractor's current workload, overall capacity, familiarity with a specific facility, cost, expertise in completing specific task(s) and/or managing a specific trade needed to carry out the job. Of the ten contractors, Con-Cor Inc. was selected to submit an estimate and project schedule for this Project.
