SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes an extension to the existing contract with AT&T, under the same terms and conditions, to provide the Information Technology Services Department with the purchase of various communication services and devices for an estimated cost of $2,500,000 through December 31, 2018.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Submitted for City Council consideration and action is an amendment to extend the current contract with AT&T through December 31, 2018 to provide the Information Technology Services Department (ITSD) with the purchase of communication services and devices for an estimated cost of $2,500,000.
The City is currently in the last year of a nine year contract with AT&T for technology based communication services. These communication services are provided to approximately 12,000 City employees at over 500 sites.
The contracted communication services and devices include the following: Wired telephone service; mobile cellular telephone and mobile cellular telephone with push to talk services; metropolitan Ethernet connectivity; wired, wireless broadband and internet connection services; long distance, directory assistance, 311 and paging services; telephone device maintenance and communication equipment / mobile devices.
ISSUE:
An extension to the current master contract is being requested to allow the City time to finalize negotiations for a new Telecommunications Services contract. The extension will allow AT&T and ITSD to transition to a simplified billing report prior to the contract start date and allow time for the development of transition plans for services that will be sunset under the legacy contract.
This amendment is an exception to the Small Business Economic Development Agency (SBEDA) and Local Preference Programs.
