SUBJECT:

Airport Fire Rescue Truck

SUMMARY:

This ordinance authorizes a contract with Grande Truck Center to provide the City of San Antonio International Airport with one replacement Airport Fire Rescue Truck for a total cost of $171,044.00. Funding is available from the Airport Operation & Maintenance Fund.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the attached tabulation of three bids to provide the San Antonio International Airport (SAIA) with one replacement fire rescue truck for a total cost of $171,044.00. This contract will provide the Aviation Department with one four wheel drive 2018 Ford F-550 Chassis with a 400 gallon water/foam tank body.

This truck will be located at Fire Station No. 23 within the SAIA campus and will replace the fire rescue truck currently assigned to this fire station. This truck will be used to respond to small brush fires, vehicle fires, as well as fuel leaks on airport property.

ISSUE:

This contract provides for the purchase of one replacement Airport Fire Rescue Truck. This truck is covered by a 60 month or 60,000 mile powertrain warranty and a 36 month or 36,000 mile chassis base warranty that will start on the day each unit is placed in service. Use of this truck will be limited to the SAIA campus and will have a life expectancy of 15 years.

The Small Business Economic Development Advocacy (SBEDA) Ordinance requirements were waived due to the lack of small, minority, and/or women businesses available to provide these goods and services.

The Airport Fire Rescue truck is recommended for award to Grande Truck Center, which is a local business. Therefore, application of Local Preference Program was not required.

The Veteran-Owned Small Business Preference Program does not apply to goods/supplies contracts, so no preference was applied to this contract.
