Purchase of Fire Station Furniture

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

This ordinance authorizes acceptance of contract with Dreamseats, LLC to provide fire station furniture for various fire facilities for a total cost of $71,684.16 for the San Antonio Fire Department. Funding is available from the FY 2018 General Fund Budget.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

 

Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the attached tabulation of one bid for fire station furniture for a total cost of $71,684.16. 

 

This purchase of dayroom furniture from the Dreamseats, LLC will consist of 5 club chairs, 1 loveseat, 9 sofas and 63 single recliners.  This commercial grade furniture is specifically designed for facilities which operate 24/7 and features plus size and weight capacity construction.  Construction features include a hardwood frame, “no-sag” spring suspension and high resiliency foam.  The recommended dayroom furniture will replace existing furniture at 11 additional fire stations.

 

The furniture is covered by a limited lifetime warranty with an estimated 10 year life expectancy.  

 

ISSUE:

 

This contract is within the scope of the SBEDA Program.  However, due to lack of available firms and/or subcontracting opportunities, the Goal Setting Committee was unable to apply a SBEDA tool to this contract.

 

There were no bids submitted from local bidders for this contract; therefore, the Local Preference Program was not applied.

 

The Veteran-Owned Business Program does not apply to good/supplies contracts, so no preference was applied to this contract.

 

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

Should this contract not be approved, the San Antonio Fire Department will continue to use existing furniture that has reached the end of its useful life and for which repairs are not cost effective. 

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

This ordinance authorizes acceptance of contract with Dreamseats, LLC to provide fire station furniture for various fire facilities for a total cost of $71,684.16 for the San Antonio Fire Department. Funding is available from the FY 2018 General Fund Budget.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

Staff recommends the approval of a contract with Dreamseats, LLC for the purchase and delivery of fire station furniture for a total cost of $71,684.16. 

 

This contract is procured on the basis of low bid and a Contracts Disclosure Form is not required.
