SUBJECT:
Termination of Inactive Campaign Treasurer Appointments
SUMMARY:
This ordinance will officially terminate inactive Campaign Treasurer Appointments (CTAs) on file with the Office of the City Clerk. Said CTAs have been inactive for at least one year.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The City's Municipal Campaign Finance Regulations provides for the City Clerk to terminate inactive Campaign Treasurer Appointments (CTAs) by presenting inactive CTAs and abiding by the process established in Sections 2-311 and 2-312.
ISSUE:
City Council approval is requested to formally terminate the identified inactive Campaign Treasurer Appointments of candidates and specific purpose action committees.
ALTERNATIVES:
If not approved, my office will be required to maintain the filed Campaign Treasurer Appointments indefinitely unless terminated by the Candidate or Specific Purpose Committee Treasurer.
FISCAL IMPACT:
If approved, maintenance and indefinite retention of documents will be eliminated.
RECOMMENDATION:
In accordance with the procedures established under Sections 2-311 and 2-312 of the Municipal Campaign Finance Regulations, I recommend that City Council adopt an Ordinance to terminate all CTAs listed as inactive on Exhibit A.
