SUBJECT:

Class-Five Cab Over Service Trucks

SUMMARY:

This ordinance authorizes acceptance of a contract with Rush Truck Center to provide the Solid Waste Management Department with four Class-Five Cab Over Service Trucks for a total cost of $391,992.00. Funding for this purchase is available in the FY 2018 Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund (ERRF) and the Solid Waste Management (SWMD) Fleet Services Fund.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the attached tabulation of four bids to provide three replacement and one additional Class-Five Cab Over Service Trucks for a total cost of $391,992.00.

These contracts will provide four Class-Five Cab Over Service Trucks to meet the needs of the Solid Waste Management Department. These trucks will be utilized for off road mechanic support throughout the City. Three trucks are replacement units and one is an additional unit to the City's fleet. The replacement of these units is consistent with the City's Equipment Replacement and Renewal Fund (ERRF) and Solid Waste Management (SWMD) Fleet Services Fund.

ISSUE:

The Cab Over Service Trucks, cabs and chassis are covered by 5 year warranty and the service body, crane and lift gate 1 year warranty. Warranties will start on the day each unit is placed in service.

The life expectancy for these trucks is 120 months.

The Small Business Economic Development Advocacy (SBEDA) Ordinance requirements were waived due to the lack of small, minority, and/or women businesses available to provide these goods and services.

The recommended award is to the low responsive bidder, Rush Truck Center, a local business. Therefore, application of the Local Preference Program was not required.

The Veteran-Owned Business Program does not apply to good/supplies contracts, so no preference was applied to this contract.
