SUMMARY:
An ordinance for the new Fire Station #54 Project awarding a construction contract to Catamount Constructors, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $2,328,000.00, a multi-source funded Project, located in Council District 2.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background
On August 31, 2017, City Council approved the Foster Road and IH-10 East/Loop 1604 East Interchange Annexation Area. City Council authorized through Ordinance 2018-01-18-0017 the acquisition and appropriation of three acres of privately owned land for the development of a Fire Station. Fire Station #54 will provide fire protection for the annexed area located in Council District 2, as part of the Foster Road Annexation.

The new Fire Station #54 will be located at 1215 N. Foster Road. The Fire Station will include a single story modular dormitory building and a separate single story pre-engineered metal building with three apparatus bays including utilities, security fencing and gates. Project construction is anticipated to begin November 2018 and estimated to be completed by May 2019.

Procurement of Services
A Request for Competitive Sealed Proposals (RFCSP) was released in May 2018 in the San Antonio Hart Beat, on the City's website, on the Texas Electronic State Business Daily, and on TVSA. Responses were due on July 3, 2018, and six (6) responsive submittals were received. A selection committee consisting of representatives from the City Manager's Office, Transportation & Capital Improvements, the San Antonio Fire Department and the private sector evaluated and ranked the submissions and scored the proposals.
