Amendment to La Villita Lease Agreement
SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes an amendment to the La Villita Lease Agreement between the City of San Antonio and Brandy Garcia d/b/a B.link to renew the term through October 31, 2019.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Ordinance 2017-10-19-0808 approved a one-year La Villita Lease with Brandy Garcia d/b/a B.link to operate a retail shop from Building 14B comprised of 166 square feet within the La Villita Historic Arts Village. The agreement, which will expire on October 31, 2018, provides for two, one-year renewals with City Council approval.
On September 6, 2018, B.link notified the City of its intent to exercise the first of its one-year renewal options. Approval of this Ordinance will authorize the amendment of B.link’s agreement to renew the term through October 31, 2019.
ISSUE:
Approval of this ordinance is consistent with the City’s practice of leasing City-owned property in support of downtown retail activity.
ALTERNATIVES:
The City may elect not to approve this amendment, which would result in B.link becoming a month-to-month tenant or vacating.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Ordinance authorizes an amendment to the La Villita Lease Agreement between the City of San Antonio and Brandy Garcia d/b/a B.link to renew the term through October 31, 2019 for a total of $3,440.85, which includes $124.83 rental abatement for Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA). All funds received will be deposited into the General Fund in accordance with the FY 2019 General Fund Adopted Budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the Amendment to the La Villita Lease Agreement between the City of San Antonio and Brandy Garcia d/b/a B.link to renew the term through October 31, 2019.
