Workforce Development Briefing
SUMMARY:
SA Works will provide an update on their work with stakeholders such as education and industry partners, community based organizations, and workforce and training partners. This presentation will conclude with the introduction of the new Chancellor of Alamo Colleges, Dr. Mike Flores.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
SA Works is an industry-led, demand-driven workforce organization aligning education and employers to promote economic mobility that is part of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF). SA Works plays an important role in each of SAEDF’s Strategic Framework Areas. A strong workforce development ecosystem supports San Antonio’s core economic development focus areas such as business attraction, business retention and expansion, trade development, and entrepreneurial development.
SA Works will present their guiding principles of growing, upskilling, recruiting, and retaining talent in San Antonio. They will discuss specific initiatives of each of these focus areas including the economic impact of youth employment and their annual jobs report. SA Works will also present their 2019 Strategic Framework that consists of short, medium, and long-term strategies, supporting tactics and key performance indicators of their work.
The briefing will conclude by introducing Dr. Mike Flores as the new Chancellor of the Alamo Colleges.
