Joint Use Agreement with Sierra Victor Aviation at the San Antonio International Airport

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

This Ordinance authorizes a joint use agreement with Sierra Victor Aviation, located at 1354 South Terminal Drive, to allow access to airport property for the installation and maintenance of fiber lines at the San Antonio International Airport. The agreement will commence on January 1, 2019 and will terminate upon the termination or expiration of their lease agreement. There is no cost to the City.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

 

In 2018, Sierra Victor Aviation approached the city about installing fiber lines on their leasehold located at 1354 South Terminal Drive on San Antonio International Airport property. The joint use agreement will allow the firm’s contractors and subcontractors to access airport property in order to install and maintain fiber lines. The leasehold is located near the intersection of South Terminal and Airport Blvd. Their contractors and subcontractors will not be able to access any secured area.

 

Sierra Victor Aviation and their representatives are responsible for the procurement, installation and maintenance of the fiber lines. They will also adhere to all safety standards as well as all federal, state or local regulations.

 

 

ISSUE:

 

City Council authorization is required for joint use agreements.

 

This Ordinance authorizes a joint use agreement with Sierra Victor Aviation, located at 1354 South Terminal Drive, to allow access to airport property for the installation and maintenance of fiber lines at the San Antonio International Airport. The agreement will commence on January 1, 2019 and will terminate upon the termination or expiration of their lease agreement. There is no cost to the City.

 

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

City Council could elect to not approve the agreement. However, without this agreement, Sierra Victor Aviation would be unable to install the fiber lines they have requested.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

This Ordinance authorizes a joint use agreement with Sierra Victor Aviation to allow access to airport property for the installation and maintenance of fiber lines at the San Antonio International Airport and will commence on January 1, 2019. There is no cost to the City; Sierra Victor Aviation is responsible for all costs to procure, install and maintain the fiber lines being installed on their leasehold on airport property.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

Staff recommends the approval of the joint use agreement with Sierra Victor Aviation.
