Consideration of Applicants to the San Antonio Bike Share Board of Directors (3 Slots)

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Transportation City Council Committee will review and recommend applicants for three (3) available slots to the San Antonio Bike Share Board of Directors. The Office of the City Clerk received 26 applications for the three (3) slots for a 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year term of office. The Center City Development Office is providing their three recommendations as follows:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

 

The San Antonio Bike Share Board of Directors is comprised of nine (9) members, three (3) of which are a 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year term. The Board of Directors are appointed by the Mayor and City Council to oversee all business operations related to San Antonio's Bike Share Program. Board members work to create a strategic long-term vision for the success of SWell Cycle in San Antonio while ensuring the program's financial sustainability. The mission of the San Antonio Bike Share is to inspire the community to use SWell Cycle as a simple solution for health and environmentally-friendly transportation.

 

The three (3) slots are for terms of office to expire September 30, 2019; September 30, 2020; and September 30, 2021, respectively.

 

 

ISSUE:

 

Board appointments require full City Council approval.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

There is no fiscal impact.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

Staff recommends the Transportation Committee forward the three Board nominations to the City Council for consideration on January 10, 2019.
