Briefing on SmartSA Innovation Zones Vendor Summit

SUMMARY:

This item will provide a debrief on the SmartSA Innovation Zones Vendor Summit.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

In June of 2018, City Council approved the creation of three innovation zones: Brooks, Downtown, and the Medical Center. These zones will serve as real-world testing grounds to pilot technology aimed to address civic challenges identified by our community. The SmartSA Vendor Summit was a substitution for a traditional Request for Information (RFI). Invitations were sent to over 4,400 local and national vendors. Nearly 150 attended in-person. Subject matter experts from the City of San Antonio and from all the partner agencies provided our SmartSA Vision, challenges, and opportunities with a strong focus on the three Innovation Zones.
