Request

A request for a 114' variance from the 150' distance requirement, as described in Chapter 28, Section 28-49, to allow for 2 signs to be 36' apart.

Executive Summary

The applicant is requesting the variance to allow two signs to be 36' feet apart. The variance is being requested because the new development does not have other street frontages. The applicant designed an entrance to the apartment complex on USAA Boulevard with two signs at the entry of the site with one on each side. Each sign will measure 79.75 square feet, with a combined area of 159.5 square feet. The subject property is located between Huebner Road and Fredericksburg Road along USAA Boulevard where the road has significant curvature and change in elevation. The applicant states that if only one sign is placed at the entrance there would be a limited vision for drivers attempting to enter the apartment complex. The subject property is surrounded by other apartments in the area and a variety of office and commercial uses.
