A briefing on the selection of new priority health indicators

SUMMARY:

The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (Metro Health) will provide a presentation, briefing the Community Health and Equity Committee on the selection of new priority health indicators.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District’s (Metro Health’s) current department strategic plan will conclude at the end of the FY 2019. In preparation for the department’s new strategic plan, Metro Health conducted community surveying at the SA Speak Up budget meetings in the fall and administered an online questionnaire over several months, allowing the public and stakeholders the opportunity to provide input and identify health priorities for the community. Metro Health received over 4,000 responses to the community survey and utilized the feedback to identify the top 10 community priorities. Next, staff convened an Ad-Hoc community group to narrow the list of the community’s top 10 health priorities down to the top 3 priority health indicators for San Antonio. The top 3 priority indicators include: access to care; nutrition; and, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). These new priority health indicators will form the basis for Metro Health’s next 4 year strategic plan.
