Task Order with Alpha Building Corporation for the Roof Replacement at 457 Sandau Rd. at San Antonio International Airport


SUMMARY:

This ordinance approves a task order with Alpha Building Corporation for the roof replacement of the building at 457 Sandau Rd at the San Antonio International Airport. The office building houses several divisions of the Aviation Department. The roof has exceeded its life expectancy and requires replacement. The task order is in an amount not to exceed $159,282.11 and funded from previously-appropriated Airport Improvement and Contingency Funds in the Improvements to Airport-Owned Property project.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The roof on the building located at 457 Sandau Road has dramatically exceeded its useful life; the roof has several areas of ponding and requires replacement. The San Antonio Airport System is utilizing Alpha, a job order contractor, for this work. Alpha is one of the approved JOC contractors through Ordinance 2018-10-11-0809 that provide the alternative project delivery method for construction, renovation, rehabilitation and maintenance projects for the San Antonio Airport System.

This work includes the removal of the current roofing material and the installation of a reinforced thermoplastic polyolefin membrane system on the lower and upper roof area as well as the canopy area. The project will also include the installation of curbing and edging on those areas.
