Purchase of Ford Expedition's


SUMMARY:

An ordinance accepting the offer from Silsbee Ford to provide two replacement Ford Expedition Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV's) for the San Antonio Police Department for a total cost of $80,990.24. Funding is available from the FY 2019 Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund (ERRF) Budget.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the offer submitted by Silsbee Ford to provide the San Antonio Police Department with two replacement Ford Expedition Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV's) for a total cost of $80,990.24.

These units are full sized Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV's) that are used by the San Antonio Police Department. These Expeditions are assigned to the Office of the Chief of Police.


ISSUE:

This contract will provide a total of two replacement Ford Expedition SUV's for the Police Department.

These units will be purchased from Silsbee Ford utilizing the Houston-Galveston Area Council contract #VE11-18 and will be made in accordance with the Houston-Galveston Cooperative program passed on resolution 96-41-48 dated 10/10/1996.

These vehicles will have a 36 month/36,000 mile bumper to bumper and five year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty.

The Small Business Economic Development Advocacy (SBEDA) Ordinance requirements were waived due to the lack of small, minority, and/or women businesses available to provide these goods and services.

The recommended award is an exception to the Local Preference Program.

The Veteran-Owned Business Program does not apply to good/supplies contracts, so no preference was applied to this contract.


ALTERNATIVES:

All of the replaced equipment has met or will meet its age or mileage requirement cycles before replacement. The replacement date is considered the optimum time for replacement as delaying the acquisition could make the vehic...
