SUBJECT:
The San Antonio Fire Department will be presenting a year to date assessment of fire activity and statistics.
SUMMARY:
The San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD) will be giving an informational presentation with data that compares year to date fire activity and statistics in comparison to previous years.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The SAFD tracks fire events through the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) and fire fatality information through the SAFD Arson Bureau.
While fire trends overall have been statistically insignificant from the previous year, SAFD has noticed a rise in individual areas such as multifamily apartment homes when compared with the previous year.
With the rise in multifamily fires, SAFD has been proactive in analyzing the data to look for trends such as time of day, date, location and cause. SAFD will present their findings along with fatalities, injuries and financial loss/saved information.
ISSUE:
A briefing on fire activity and loss information that has occurred within the City of San Antonio since January 1, 2019.
