SUMMARY:

TCI will provide an informational briefing on the status of the 2017 - 2022 Bond Program approved by the voters on May 6, 2017 to include updates on the delivery and schedule.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

2017 - 2022 Bond Program
On May 6, 2017, voters approved the 2017 - 2022 Bond Program consisting of six propositions totaling $850 Million. The program includes 180 projects designed to improve and enhance existing, as well as acquire or construct, new local streets, bridges, sidewalks, drainage, parks, libraries and other facilities throughout San Antonio. Bond projects address infrastructure needs in a specific area and have a regional or city-wide benefit for all residents. The following provides a general description of each of the six propositions within the Bond Program highlighting the number of projects in each and the total amount of Bond Funds:

Proposition 1: Streets, Bridges, and Sidewalk Improvements - 64 Projects $445,263,000
This proposition authorizes the City of San Antonio to issue bonds, the proceeds from which will be used to make permanent public improvements to streets, bridges and sidewalks, as well as other improvements necessary or related to the following, including, but not limited to: bicycle lanes, landscaping, relocation of utilities, street lighting, technology improvements and signage. This proposition will also provide acquisition of lands and rights-of-way necessary for such purposes and for the acquiring and installation of public art related to the proposition.

Proposition 2: Drainage and Flood Control Improvements - 19 Projects $138,988,000
This proposition authorizes the City of San Antonio to issue bonds, the proceeds from which will be used to provide drainage and flood water improvements and facilities to be used for the removal of and protection from harmful excess water.
