BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Submitted for City Council consideration is the attached tabulation of one bid to provide fifteen half house curtains and eight storage hamper bags for the use at the Alamodome for a total cost of $60,722.00.  The half house curtains will be used to split the stadium in half in order to do smaller, more intimate events at the Alamodome. The purpose of the curtains is to allow the Alamodome to offer different configurations to clients so the Alamodome can meet their individual event needs.

The department is recommending award to Rose Brand, Inc. which met all the specification requirements.

ISSUE:

This contract with Rose Brand, Inc. will provide fifteen half house curtains and eight storage hamper bags to be used at the Alamodome for the Convention and Sports Facilities Department. The current half house curtains are ten years old and are in need of replacement.

The curtains are made of Velour 60 inherently flame retardant material and are ninety feet high and forty feet wide. The hamper bags are heavy weight canvas with hinged woven tops and reinforced bottoms with swivel casters and are required to store the curtains in a way so that they are not damaged or soiled during storage or transport for installation.

Rose Brand, Inc. provides a three year standard warranty on material and workmanship, including stitching.

The Small Business Economic Development Advocacy (SBEDA) Ordinance requirements were waived due to the lack of small, minority, and/or women businesses available to provide these goods and services.

There were no bids submitted from local bidders for this contract; therefore, the Local Preference Program was not applied.

The Veteran-Owned Business Program does not apply to goods/supplies contracts, so no preference was applied to this contract.

ALTERNATIVES:

Should this contract with Rose Brand, Inc. not be approved, the Alamodome will look less inviting possibly affecting the usage of future events.
