2020-21 Student Registration Period
SUMMARY:
This item will include an update regarding the accelerated student registration period for the 2020-21 school year and opportunities to expand eligibility.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Historically, the Pre-K 4 SA application period for the upcoming school year has opened to alumni families in late December and to the general public on February 1. As parents are offered more choices in the education landscape, application timeframes can be confusing for families.
ISSUE:
Pre-K 4 SA is joining a citywide effort to bring together schools to develop a common application timeframe so the process is more transparent for families. The common application period would begin in November and last into February of each year. Opening the application window earlier allows families more time to learn about their options before making a decision. As part of this coordinated effort, a citywide open house will be held on January 25. This open house will be in addition to open houses Pre-K 4 SA has scheduled for the fall semester. Joining with other schools in a citywide opening house will help increase parent awareness about the opportunity to visit prospective programs.
In response to HB 3 legislation, Pre-K 4 SA is also proposing to expand enrollment opportunities for families that attend Pre-K 4 SA under the sliding-scale tuition option.
This presentation will include a summary of the accelerated registration period and potential revisions to enrollment guidelines.
