SUBJECT: Cite and Release Update
SUMMARY:
The San Antonio Police Department will provide the Public Safety Committee its first quarterly cite and release update to include a preliminary summary of results achieved through September 2019.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On July, 1, 2019, the San Antonio Police Department, in coordination with the Bexar County District Attorney, implemented an expanded cite and release program for Bexar County residents. As part of the program evaluation process, the Police Department committed to providing quarterly updates to the Public Safety Committee. At the October 15 Public Safety Committee, SAPD will present its first update on the expanded cite and release program.
The update will provide information on the progress made in the implementation of the program and will highlight its effectiveness in allowing the SAPD to achieve its objective of enhancing officer availability throughout the city.
