2020-21 Academic Calendar
SUMMARY:
This includes approval of the Pre-K 4 SA 2020-21 academic calendar.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Pre-K 4 SA works in partnership with local school districts (ISD) to serve San Antonio’s 4-year-olds. Each ISD sets its own academic calendar. Pre-K 4 SA reviewed the available ISD calendars before drafting the proposed Pre-K 4 SA 2020-21 academic calendar. The proposed calendar satisfies the Texas Education Agency requirement that full-day prekindergarten programs offer at least 75,600 minutes of instruction during the academic year. The proposed calendar sets Monday, August 17, 2020 as the first day of school and includes a half-day phase-in period prior to the first day to allow students to acclimate to the teacher/school/classroom through a smaller, more intentional approach. The school year will end on Thursday, May 27.
ISSUE:
Pre-K 4 SA is proposing an academic calendar for the 2020-21 school year.
ALTERNATIVES:
Pre-K 4 SA would revise the calendar.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends for the Board to approve the proposed 2020-21 academic year calendar.
