Contract Award: Monticello Park (Area Streets) (2017 Bond Project)
SUMMARY:
An ordinance accepting the lowest responsive bid and awarding a construction contract to D. Plata Construction Company, LLC in the amount of $2,042,660.23 of which $119,411.30 will be reimbursed by San Antonio Water System (SAWS) for the Monticello Park (Area Streets) Project, a 2017 Bond funded project, located in Council District 7.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Project Background
On May 6, 2017, voters approved the 2017 Bond Program which authorized $3,936,000.00 for streets and sidewalk improvements to the Monticello Park (Area Streets) Project located in Council District 7.
As part of an ongoing initiative to improve infrastructure within the historical district of Monticello Park, the Project will provide for the reconstruction of area streets to include pavement, curbs, sidewalks, driveway approaches and utility improvements along Furr Drive from Kampmann Boulevard to Fredericksburg Road. Project construction is anticipated to begin December 2019 and estimated to be completed by January 2021.
Procurement of Services
This project was advertised on August 7, 2019 for construction bids in the San Antonio Hart Beat, on the City's website, on the Texas Electronic State Business Daily, on TVSA, through the electronic bidding site CivCast and through the TCI Small Business Office. Bids were opened on September 10, 2019 and four (4) bids were received. Of these, D. Plata Construction Company, LLC submitted the lowest responsive bid.
