SUMMARY:
Director to report updates on Neighborhood and Housing Services Department Programs.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Each month the director prepares a report on program updates directly affecting the Commission and its charge.
ISSUE:
Topics to be discussed are (a) Risk Mitigation Outreach and Assessment Plan; (b) City Housing Policy Implementation Plan; (c) Annual Report Update; (d) Follow-up Questions; (e) San Antonio Housing Trust Assessment; (f) Chief Housing Officer; (g) Upcoming Meetings
(a) Risk Mitigation Outreach and Assessment Plan Update
Staff is coordinating with stakeholders to assess the implementation of the Risk Mitigation Fund Policy. The stakeholder group, which includes Commissioner Jessica O. Guerrero, has met to discuss the assessment, guiding principles, outreach plan/efforts, demographics of clients served, and root causes of the need for assistance. The group will continue to meet and is currently planning two focus groups for people who have utilized or may be eligible to utilize the policy. The group plans to present initial findings and recommendations to the Housing Commission in January.
(b) City Housing Policy Implementation Plan
Staff will update on status of implementation plan.
(c) Annual Report
Staff is preparing an annual report. A work session was held with the Housing Commission on October 1st and 23rd. Based on feedback received at the work session, staff will provide recommendations for annually tracked metrics for discussion at the Housing Commission Retreat.
(d) Follow-up Questions
During the October 23 meeting, Commissioners asked three questions that required additional back up information from staff.
(e) San Antonio Housing Trust Assessment
Staff will update Commission on the status of the Housing Trust Assessment including the comments received from the San Antonio Housing Trust Foundation Board.
(f) Chief Housing Officer
Staff will update Commission on the status of the Chief Housing Officer recruitment.
(g) Upcoming Meetings
Housing Commission is tentatively scheduled to meet again on January 22. Another upcoming meeting includes the Retreat on January 10. The retreat will be a full-day and is scheduled for January 10 at the Botanical Gardens.
