SUMMARY:
Consideration of a request to establish a partnership between Pre-K 4 SA and The Nuff to apply for a grant provided by Charles Butt Foundation to allow for development of accompanying curriculum and distribution of books to early learning programs.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In late 2019, Pre-K 4 SA was approached by a local publishing agency about creating a partnership centered on a soon-to-be-released book, The Nuff. The book, written from a mother's perspective to her young daughters, spreads the message of acceptance of self and acceptance of others.
The publishers are requesting to establish a partnership with Pre-K 4 SA to apply for a grant from the Charles Butt Foundation. The grant funds would be used to develop accompanying curriculum and lesson plans for teachers to assist in delivering the message of the book in a meaningful and impactful way. Additionally, the publishers are seeking the support of Pre-K 4 SA to distribute books to early learning programs throughout Texas.
ISSUE:
Pre-K 4 SA staff requests consideration of a request establish a partnership between Pre-K 4 SA and The Nuff to apply for a grant provided by Charles Butt Foundation to allow for development of accompanying curriculum and distribution of books to early learning programs.
ALTERNATIVES:
If the Board does not approve the partnership, Pre-K 4 SA will not be able to partner with The Nuff to apply for a grant provided by Charles Butt Foundation to allow for development of accompanying curriculum and distribution of books to early learning programs.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact for this item.
