SUBJECT: National Night Out Briefing
SUMMARY:
The Department will provide the Public Safety Committee an overview of National Night Out (NNO) to include the planning and community outreach process and the purpose of the annual event.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Each year, the San Antonio Police Department is responsible for coordinating NNO in collaboration with local elected officials, community and neighborhood organizations and businesses throughout the city. While San Antonio is consistently recognized for having among the highest levels of community participation in the country, the Department meets with community stakeholders throughout the year to identify opportunities to enhance the event. Among the priorities identified by the community following the 2019 NNO were the creation of an event that is more reflective of the community and promoting greater participation by raising awareness of its primary purpose.
The briefing will include an overview of proposed public outreach strategies to solicit input from the community and promote greater participation.
