SUMMARY: Special session on the draft recommendations for recalibration of the City's affordable housing goals to be included in the Strategic Housing Implementation Plan
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
San Antonio's Housing Policy Framework is the city's affordable housing policy document that was accepted by the City Council in 2018. The document is intended to be reviewed and refined continuously to ensure that the City's housing stakeholders are responding to the needs of the community strategically and collaboratively; thus, ensuring the most efficient provision of housing development and related services.
The next step in the process of implementing the framework plan is the development of a strategic implementation plan, the Strategic Housing Implementation Plan (SHIP). The foundation for the SHIP is the Housing Policy Framework and would serve to guide any future framework plan refinements. The SHIP will be developed in collaboration with stakeholders, which include community housing stakeholders, including but not limited to: San Antonio Housing Trust (SAHT), San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA), South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless (SARAH), Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), Bexar County and applicable COSA departments. In addition, the SHIP will include an outreach and input process to receive community input.
The Housing Commission has been identified as the most appropriate entity to provide oversight of the SHIP's development and would provide guidance on the public input process.
ISSUE:
