Consideration of Applicants to the RiverWalk Capital Improvements Advisory Board (4 seats)
SUMMARY:
The Economic and Workforce Development Council (EWDC) Committee will review and consider applicants to the RiverWalk Capital Advisory Board (RWCIAB) (4 seats).
The available categories are River Bend Lessee - two (2) seats; Downtown Resident who is not a Lessee - one (1) seat; and Downtown Business Owner who is not a Lessee - one (1) seat.

Appointees will serve a term of office to begin upon approval by City Council and to expire on May 31, 2021.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Established by the City Council on June 13, 2002, the purpose of the RWCIAB is to advise the City Council on spending priorities from the RiverWalk Special Revenue Fund dedicated to capital infrastructure improvements of the RiverWalk.
The Board is comprised of seven (7) members from the following categories: River Bend Lessee - two (2) seats; Downtown Resident who is not a Lessee - one (1) seat; Downtown Business Owner who is not a Lessee - one (1) seat; the City of San Antonio Director of the Center City Development & Operations Department; the City of San Antonio Historic Preservation Officer; and the City of San Antonio Director of the Parks and Recreation Department.
A total of three (3) applications were received from qualified applicants for three (3) of the available seats for the categories of River Bend Lessee and Downtown Resident who is not a Lessee. Therefore, the Office of the City Clerk recommends that the EWDC Committee recommend the applicants for appointment.
A total of three (3) applications were received from qualified applicants for the one (1) available seat for the category of Downtown Resident who is not a Lessee. The EWDC Committee will review the three (3) applications submitted and consider one (1) for appointment.
ISSUE:
Consideration of appointments to the RiverWalk Capital Improvements Advisory Board. A total of six (6) applications were submitted for the four (4) available seats.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Committee can reject all or some of the applicants. This would require the application process to start over, delaying the work of the RiverWalk Capital Improvement Advisory Board without a full membership.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact.
RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation of the Economic and Workforce Development Council Committee will be presented to the full City Council for approval in September, 2020.
