Brush Trucks with a Grappler Attachment
SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes acceptance of an offer from Doggett Freightliner of South Texas, LLC to provide nine replacement Brush Trucks with a Grappler Attachment for the Solid Waste Management Department for a total cost of $1,699,969.00. Funding for this purchase is available from the FY 2020 Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund (ERRF) Budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the attached tabulation of four offers to provide nine replacement brush trucks with a grappler attachment for FY 2020.
The nine brush trucks with a grappler attachment will be utilized by the Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) for curbside brush and bulky collection from City residents.
There are currently 50 brush trucks with a grappler attachment in the City's fleet.
ISSUE:
This contract will provide the City with nine replacement brush trucks with a grappler attachment for the Solid Waste Management Department. These units will be used for curbside brush and bulky collection from City residents. The replacement of these units is consistent with the City's Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund (ERRF) program.
These units will be purchased from Doggett Freightliner of South Texas, LLC utilizing Texas BuyBoard contract #601-19 and will be made in accordance with the Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative passed on Ordinance No. 97097 dated January 30, 2003.
The truck cab and chassis and engine have a two-year warranty and the transmission has a three-year warranty. The grappler and grappler body have a one-year warranty. The life expectancy for these trucks is 96 months.
