SUBJECT: Memorandum of Agreement between Animal Care Services and Joint Base San Antonio

SUMMARY:
An Ordinance authorizing a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the City of San Antonio and Lackland Air Force Base and Fort Sam Houston Army Base known as Joint Base San Antonio for animal care shelter services for a three-year period with the option to renew for three (3), two-year terms. The proposed MOA would result in the City impounding up to 60 additional pets annually and collecting approximately $13,600 annually in revenue. ?

2. ACS would accept up to three pets a day, but no more than 60 pets per year from Lackland and Fort Sam Houston combined.

3. JBSA would pay ACS $227 for every pet they bring to the ACS facility (the per animal cost for providing food, housing, medical services and final disposition of a pet at ACS).

4. An additional fee in the amount of $140 would be charged if an animal is brought to ACS when the facility is not open for general public intake services.
