SUBJECT: Cite and Release Update
SUMMARY:
The Department will provide the Public Safety Committee its annual cite and release report for the period of July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On July 1, 2019, the San Antonio Police Department, in coordination with the Bexar County District Attorney, implemented an expanded cite and release program for Bexar County residents. As part of the program evaluation process, both the SAPD and Bexar County District Attorney’s Office committed to providing quarterly updates to the Public Safety Committee. The annual report will provide the results of the program for the period of July 2019 through June 2020 as well as a comparison of the results from the preceding quarters.
The Annual Report was completed on August 25th and posted on the City’s website on August 26th.

The update will also provide information on the effectiveness of the program in allowing the Department to achieve its objective of enhancing officer availability throughout the city.
