Contract Award: Brooks City Base Inner Circle Road (Louis Bauer Drive to Research Plaza) (2017 Bond)
SUMMARY:
An ordinance accepting the lowest responsive bid and awarding a construction contract to Yantis Company, Inc. in the amount of $2,642,096.74 of which $38,910.00 will be reimbursed by CPS Energy for the Brooks City Base Inner Circle Road (Louis Bauer Drive to Research Plaza) project, a 2017 Bond funded project, located in Council District 3. Funds are available from the 2017 - 2022 General Obligation Bond Program and are included in the FY 2021 - FY 2026 Capital Improvement Program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Project Background
On May 6, 2017 voters approved the 2017 Bond Program, which authorized a total of $23,400,000 for three bond projects to construct street improvements within Brooks City Base located in Council District 3. Funds were provided for the extension of South New Braunfels Avenue, Research Plaza and Inner Circle to support development occurring at and around the Brooks City Base property including industrial, commercial, retail and residential development.
This contract will provide for the construction of the Brooks City Base Inner Circle Road (Louis Bauer Drive to Research Plaza) project. The project will extend Inner Circle Road from Louis Bauer Drive to Research Plaza through construction of a three-lane roadway with bike lanes, curbs, sidewalks and landscaping improvements along Inner City Road. Utility and storm drain system improvements will also be included as part of the construction of this project. Construction is anticipated to begin in October 2020 and estimated to be completed by October 2021.
