BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The San Antonio Fire Department is the second largest department in the City of San Antonio. The department is responsible for all facets of emergency response in the City with the exception of law enforcement services provided by SAPD and responds to over 200,000 incidents annually.

The EMS division has been awarded two national awards, the Congressional Fire Services Institute/Massimo Excellence in Fire Service Based EMS Award and the 2019 EMS World, Dick Ferneau EMS System of the Year, in the last year. These awards were based on the innovation and service provided by the San Antonio Fire Department.
