SUBJECT: Hose Tender Apparatus with Pump and Tank for SAFD


SUMMARY:

This ordinance authorizes a contract with Siddons-Martin Emergency Group to provide one Hose Tender Vehicle for the San Antonio Fire Department for the total cost of $355,121.00 funded from the Adopted Capital Budget.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Submitted for Council consideration and action is the attached tabulation of one bid for an additional Hose Tender Apparatus with Pump and Tank for the San Antonio Fire Department submitted by Siddons-Martin Emergency Group for a total cost of $355,121.00.

This contract will provide the San Antonio Fire Department with one additional vehicle that will transport fire hose extensions to supplement the fire hose already on the platform ladder truck when responding to tall building fire emergencies.

There is currently one hose tender vehicle in the City's fleet. This vehicle will be an addition to the City's fleet and will be assigned to Fire Station 47.

ISSUE:

This contract will provide the City of San Antonio Fire Department with one additional hose tender vehicle to assist in fighting fires and with other emergency response requirements.

The life expectancy for this vehicle is 120 months and is covered by a one-year warranty.

The Small Business Economic Development Advocacy (SBEDA) Ordinance requirements were waived due to the lack of small, minority, and/or women businesses available to provide these goods and services.

There were no bids submitted from local bidders for this contract; therefore, the Local Preference Program was not applied.

The Veteran-Owned Small Business Preference Program does not apply to goods/supplies contracts, so no preference was applied to this contract.
